This show is a NAN (North American Nationals) approved show, in which 1st and 2nd place horses in all breed and color classes will receive a NAN card. This show is also now a Region 2 Qualifying Show.
Room information: Rooms are normally $119 during this weekend in August. Tell them you are with Pioneer Classic (or maybe “the model horse show”) and you should get the price of $89 (I have 5 standard rooms reserved at this price).
Directions:
Take I-15 to exit #269 Orem University Parkway and head EAST towards the
mountains for about 3.5 miles. You will go downhill into Provo. At Freedom
Blvd., turn right. You will see the Courtyard/Magelby's
on your left.

Fees: $40 for a full table (8 ft x 2 ft). $30 for
a "half" table (6 ft x 18 inches). Entry Forms
must be postmarked by July 23 After July 23, there
will be a late fee of $5 added onto the entry fee. (Update
as of 6/28 - there are NO FULL TABLES LEFT!)
LUNCH is NOT included in the entry fee. There is a Supreme Burger and Great Harvest Bread Company across the street and several fast food restaurants a few blocks away. I will provide a map in the show packet. Lunch will be exactly one hour!!
Refunds: There will be
NO refunds for no-shows, for people asked to leave because of disruption of the
show, or for anyone leaving early. Refunds will be considered up to two weeks
before the show.
Proxy showing: Cost is $3 per horse, limit 10 per person. May be shown by another
entrant for the owner of the horse, however fees
should be paid for those proxy horses. Please send entry form with name of your
proxy shower. The entry card must show the name of the horse owner AND the
proxy shower.
Selling: Exhibitors may
sell/trade pieces from your table, since I always like to see what eye candy is
out there with a pricetag on it! But because space is
limited, try not to let it take over your table or pay for a larger table
specifically to sell.
Awards/Placings: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st
– 6th place.The first and second place
horses will be called back after their respective divisions for champ/reserve
champ to be selected. Rosettes for Champions and Reserve Champions will be
given.
Class Limit: 3 models per class per owner.
Class Info: Classes
may be split, combined or cancelled, depending upon the number of entries, at
the discretion of the judge and/or showholder. Please
do not include halters unless they are appropriate for their breed. If in
doubt, leave it out! Also, easily tipped models may be placed on their side
with the understanding that the judge may pick it up to inspect the other side.
There will be approximately THREE MINUTES between classes, since we
want to keep the show moving. Please stay on your toes!
Judges: The
mother/daughter team of Cristine Holt (guest judge from Iowa) and Tara Oliver
(the local). This year, Patricia Gerschler of Orem, UT will be joining our
judging panel! Please remember that classes will be based on the judge’s
opinion, which varies from person to person! So please be content with the
judge’s decisions.
3x5 cards: Each entry must have a 3”x5” card. If you do not have 3”x5” cards,
please ask the showholder for some prior to the
beginning of the show. On the up side, print clearly or type the horse's name, class number, breed
and gender. On the downside, clearly print or type your name or initials.
Entries without Entry Cards will be disqualified; 3”x5” cards are necessary for
the show results. You may have a foot tag on your model for ID purposes, but
for security purposes, please make sure that the only info in view is the name,
gender, and/or breed of the model.
Documentation:
Documentation for your horses is welcomed, especially in the cases of unusual
breeds, colors or coat patterns. Please don’t assume the judges know
everything there is to know about every breed and color. As a courtesy to
other showers, please limit the size of your documentation to a maximum of
8-1/2 x 11 inches.
Divisions: HALTER
ONLY. There will be CM/AR, OF Plastic, CM/AR Mini, OF Plastic Mini,
Workmanship, and Collectability. Mini models are little-bit/Pebbles scale and
smaller. The mini divisions will be judged first, then
the larger divisions will be judged afterwards, most likely in the afternoon. There
will also be CM/AR Workmanship classes in Ring 3 being judged at the beginning
of the day followed by Collectability. Please be aware that you have horses
entered in both their breed class and a workmanship or collectability class,
there is a chance their classes will overlap. Be prepared to either make the
judge aware of your situation at the time or have a back-up horse to be shown
in a class.
Collectability:
Models will be judged on their condition
and rarity. Showers are encouraged to provide as much information on each model
as they can on an additional 3X5 card.
A
first step for the judge is to identify (or be informed by shower-provided
documentation) exactly what is being presented. It is unlikely that a
collectability judge knows every possible release, much less all the
variations, so it is good to inform or remind the judge by providing
documentation. At a minimum, the documentation should identify: Manufacturer
(e.g., Breyer, Stone, Hagen Renaker), Mold name/identification, Model
name/identification, Description, Variation (if any). Optionally, the judge
would appreciate you also including things like Production date(s), Edition
size/limitation, and any other comments you feel the judge should know.
Results: Results
from the show will be emailed to entrants and posted to the website after the
show. If you prefer a hard copy by snail mail, please provide a LSASE.
Door prizes and Auctions: There will be door prizes called throughout the show. There will also be
silent auctions that will close promptly at 3. We will hold raffles and
sell tickets at 2/$1.
The DO’S :
-Do have
fun. Socialize. Try to make what could turn into a long day nice for everyone!
-Do ask the
judge if you’re not sure what class your horse should go in.
-Do make
sure that you have your 3 x 5 cards ready for each class!
-Do listen
to try to keep up with the show. I know how it is to miss classes, and lots of
them!
-Do be
especially careful around the tables!
-Do be
prompt in removing your models from the judging tables, and bring up models for
their classes.
-Do keep
your belongings under your table or otherwise out of the walkways.
The DON’TS:
-Don’t hover while the judges are judging a class.
-Don’t bump into tables or touch someone else’s model!
-Don’t criticize other entrants or the judges.
-Don’t leave children unsupervised!
-Don’t bring pets into the show hall (as cute as they are, we don’t want any
accidents).
-DO NOT SMOKE IN THE SHOW
HALL PLEASE.
Please take it outside the hotel.
